DICE Announces Major Change to Aiming in Battlefield 2042

DICE has revealed that Battlefield 2042 will soon see a major change in the Uniform Soldier Aiming system. Currently set to “Off” in the game, this system calculates how much input is required to move the gun reticle across the screen, regardless of how the field of view changes. The next update for Battlefield 2042 will turn this system “On” by default, as DICE believes that it will help promote muscle memory and improve aiming skills. The change is aimed at reducing “unnecessary aiming variance” for players on controller, as well as improving consistency in aim rates for all players. While players can turn Uniform Soldier Aiming off in the settings menu, DICE encourages everyone to try it out and reap the benefits in their long-term gameplay. DICE has announced a major change coming to the gameplay of Battlefield 2042, which aims to benefit players in the long run. The Uniform Soldier Aiming setting will be turned on by default in the next update, which will cover both controller and keyboard-and-mouse settings. The Uniform Soldier Aiming system calculates how much input is required to move the gun reticle across the screen, ensuring that it always takes the same amount of pixel distance on the screen for a given physical movement of the mouse.

In the past, DICE had the Uniform Soldier Aiming set to “Off” in Battlefield 2042 to help new players learn the ropes. But DICE’s data shows that this isn’t working in practice. For both new and experienced players, this variance does not promote good muscle memory build-up. Hence, the change to Uniform Soldier Aiming by default aims to cut down on unnecessary aiming variance for players on controllers, so they can learn better aiming skills.

This change should also help players aim while using higher magnification scopes to better track fast-moving targets. The same principles apply to Battlefield 2042 players using a keyboard and mouse setup. Over time, the Uniform Soldier Aiming helps build muscle memory and improves aiming skills through more consistent aim rates, regardless of magnification levels.

While players can turn off the Uniform Soldier Aiming setting in the settings menu, DICE believes that the change will be a benefit to the long-term gameplay of Battlefield 2042. With more Battlefield games in development, including a single-player campaign, the future looks bright for fans of this franchise.

The games industry is always looking for ways to enhance gameplay for players. By introducing changes like Uniform Soldier Aiming, game developers can improve the gaming experience for both new and experienced players alike. It will be interesting to see how players react to this change and how it affects the future of Battlefield games.
